Shepherding University Leaders & Staff
Shepherding is one of the oldest professions and is the oldest symbol of Christ prior to the cross. In the Old Testament and Ancient Near East culture, leaders were frequently described as shepherds of their people.
At times in our culture, there seems to be an increasing distance between the green pastures and still water that people are in desperate need of receiving. Healthy shepherds navigate these dangers on a daily basis while helping to bring about the flourishing of the flocks entrusted to their care.
The University of Tennessee Knoxville creates a unique and rich opportunity for ministry. It is the flagship campus for the University of Tennessee System and also the Administration Hub for the system.
32,000 students | 12,000 Faculty, staff, and administration
10 divisions with departments within each division
(20 departments in student life alone)
Currently, Collegiate Abbey is the only ministry whose primary focus is on ministering to University Leadership and Staff.
Collegiate Abbey seeks to raise up and empower shepherds on the campus of the University of Tennessee. These shepherds initiate relationships with spiritual seekers who find a person of faith willing to pray and respond with wisdom and understanding to his or her questions about how to live spiritually in a world of ambiguity and distraction.
Our strategy is to connect, shepherd, and sustain university leadership and shepherds through individual relationships as well as weekly and monthly gatherings, resources, and training.
How You Can Help
"When it comes to prayer, keep it simple, kept it real, and keep it up." -Pete Grieg
We would love for you to join us in prayer for the campus. You can view our prayer resources by clicking the button below.
Collegiate Abbey currently has a one-time need of $30,000 to help meet current ministry needs.
We are also seeking to raise $8,000 in new monthly support to help steward and sustain the developing ministry opportunities. This would help with the addition of staff and ministry expenses.

Although people may not know us yet, they do know you. Would you please consider letting people know about Collegiate Abbey and our ministry at UT. Please feel free to share our resources, attend any events, and initiate a meeting or introduction. A great opportunity would be attending a Shepherd's Abbey training.
