Para-Counseling is a ministry Jesus calls his followers to provide to those who are in emotional or spiritual turmoil (Matt. 9:36 – 38). Christian para-counselors offer hurting people a spiritual helping relationship in which they can experience the kind of spiritual care, hope, and truth that only Jesus can provide (Matt. 11:28 – 29; Heb. 4:14 –16). The purpose of Christian para-counseling is to come alongside those who are suffering and help them find the spiritual resources to think and live as followers of Jesus in the midst of whatever problems or struggles they are encountering.  Faith-based para-counselors do this by using the spiritual practices of listening beneath words, soul care, discipleship counseling, prayer, biblical encouragement, and spiritual direction. This 10-hour training program provides the foundations for understanding how to offer Christian faith-based para-counseling to those who are hurting. It is designed for anyone who feels called by Jesus to provide this kind of ministry to others.
