Theme: Patience
Focus:
That God would make us quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger as we serve Christ in a trying time.
Proverbs 16:32; 17: 27; 19:11
Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city….The one who has knowledge uses words with restraint, and whoever has understanding is even-tempered….A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.
James 1:19 – 20
Let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
Colossians 3:12
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
Dear God,
You are the source of all that is good. In our broken world, we know there will be times that challenge us. Yet, we have confidence that You will use all things to work together for good and Your plans and purposes. Help us all to be thoughtful in our relationships with others who may differ in our thoughts and opinions. Help us to seek You first and give us ears, hearts, and minds that desire to understand one another. Please give us the power to control our tongues and press pause on our anger. Also guide us to seek forgiveness in the situations where we spoke, or acted from a place of arrogance, pride and self-righteousness. May we honor You as a humble people, chosen, holy and loved. Give us a temperament of peace and patience as well as a heart of compassion and gentleness.
In Jesus Name,
Amen
